John and Frances Glessner commissioned Henry Hobson Richardson to design for them a house that would reflect their ideas about home, family and society. The family divided their time between Chicago and New Hampshire. Mr. and Mrs. Glessner were married for more than sixty years and had a lasting impact on Chicago during their time here.
